THE FALL 2014 COMPETITION

1st ANNUAL IT INNOVATION COMPETITION (FALL 2014)

MISSION:
  • Our goal is to drive innovation among our students and also showcase the promise of our student’s ability to apply their newfound knowledge in business and technology to solve practical problems in the real-world.
  • Through this program, we hope to affect the Greater Milwaukee community with an infusion of bright students who have a passion for technology and demonstrate innovative thinking and entrepreneurial spirits.
  • We hope to extend this opportunity to a larger regional community on an annual basis.

Evaluation Criteria:
  1. Knowledge of Agile Project Planning (User Stories, Project Scheduling, etc.)
  2. Business-Technology Strategy (Product Canvas)
  3. Technical Artifacts (ERD, Sequence Diagrams, Swim Lanes, etc.)
  4. User Experience (Mockups, Usability, etc. )
  5. Technical Implementation (Live Demo/Video, etc.

Preparation Time:
  • 4 weeks

  • WCF Services
  • Xamarin Studio
  • Android, iOS
  • iOS Maps, Google Maps API
  • C#, SQL Azure, etc.


PROJECT IDEA:
  • The students saw an opportunity to build a Mobile App for requesting and tracking assigned LIMOs (campus shuttle) at Marquette. The concept is very similar to that of Uber and Lyft. They also felt that this product that can be accessible to other University ride-share services, beyond MU.
